How Tariffs Are Impacting Our Pricing—and Why We’re Still Committed to Sustainability

At Suite Sleep, we’ve always been committed to creating the highest quality, sustainable sleep products using the best materials from around the world. But global trade policies—especially tariffs—have made that mission more challenging in recent years.

We want to be transparent with you about how these tariffs are affecting our pricing, and why we continue to source responsibly despite the added costs.

The Real Cost of Tariffs on Sustainable Materials

Sri Lankan Latex: 44% Tariff

Natural latex is the heart of our mattresses and toppers. Sourced from Sri Lanka, where rubber trees thrive in tropical climates, this material is durable, breathable, and fully biodegradable. But latex imported from Sri Lanka is now subject to a 44% tariff, significantly increasing our production costs.

Canadian Textiles: 25% Tariff

We source certain textile components from Canada, where manufacturing standards and sustainability align with our values. A 25% tariff now applies to these imports, affecting the cost of components like fabric finishes and specialty textiles.

TENCEL™ from China: 54% Tariff

TENCEL™ is made from sustainably harvested eucalyptus trees and is one of the most eco-friendly fibers available. While the trees can grow in many parts of the world, nearly all TENCEL™ processing takes place in China—making it subject to a 54% tariff. This impacts products like our luxurious pillows and blended fabrics.

Why We Still Choose Global Sourcing

We would love nothing more than to produce every component of our products right here in the U.S. But the truth is, the best, most sustainable raw materials are grown and produced in regions that have perfected their cultivation and processing.

  • Organic cotton yarns? Mostly grown in India, Pakistan, China, and Peru.

  • Natural rubber? Only grows in tropical countries like Sri Lanka.

  • Eucalyptus fiber? Requires specialized processing facilities, mostly located in China.

While tariffs have increased our costs, we continue to prioritize quality, sustainability, and long-term environmental stewardship over cutting corners.
